What to do in Bangkok?

Bangkok, Thailand's capital is a large city known for ornate shrines and vibrant street life. Bangkok is the most popular city of the Kingdom of Thailand. To me, Bangkok is a city where we can enjoy to the fullest with varieties of foods and beverages, not forgetting its historical landmark and the fashion outlets to shop around.

1. Best time to travel Bangkok - December
I am a typical Malaysian and that is the reason why I will prefer to visit Bangkok on end of the year (December). December is high to peak season in Thailand and one of the reasons that is the case is because the weather is brilliant. Average temperature in Bangkok will be 21 to 31 Degree Celsius and it will be even lower temperature at places like Chiang Mai and Khao Yai.

2. Bangkok MUST GO Shopping Malls
List of shopping malls in Bangkok as shown below. Most of the shopping malls opens from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Siam Paragon (nearest BTS is Siam)
  • Central World (nearest BTS is Siam)
  • MBK (nearest BTS is National Stadium)
  • Siam Center (nearest BTS is Siam)
  • Siam Discovery (nearest BTS is Siam or National Stadium)
  • Terminal 21 (nearest BTS is Chidlom)
  • Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam (nearest BTS is Chidlom)
TIPS! Not sure whether have you noticed that there are few shopping malls where its nearest BTS is identical with each other. Yes, you are right! They are actually located quite near to each others and there is a skywalks taking you over the busy Pathumwan intersection. The Skywalks covers the main shopping section of Bangkok and connects places such as Central Chidlom, Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, Central World, MBK and others. Along the skywalks, there are clear signage which are in English so you don't have to worry to get loss up there.

Personally, I will prefer to spend one or two days at Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, Central World and MBK since there is a skywalk which interconnect each of the shopping malls while I will spend another day to shop at Terminal 21.

Please note that the skywalk only opens from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

3. Bangkok MUST GO Night Markets
I have written a blog post about Bangkok's night markets. Don't forget to click here to check out more on Bangkok's night market!

4. Bangkok MUST GO Landmarks
Apart from all the shopping malls, Bangkok has quite a number of exciting and popular historical landmarks, as below:
  • Grand Palace
  • Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)
  • Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of Emerald Buddha)
  • Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)
  • Erawan Shrine (Thao Mahaprom Shrine)
TIPS! You can reach Erawan Shrine through skywalk; hence, don't forget to look for Erawan Shrine when you are using the skywalk.

Sharing some of the photos of Wat Arun, as below. To visit Wat Arun, go to the closet BTS station to you and buy ticket to Saphan Taksin, exit the station and walk to the Central Pier (is within walking distance).

TIPS! Look for Orange Flag Boat when you are at Central Pier! Why Orange Flag? Because it is cheaper than others.
